I really do wonder if the effect that gets the light to turn on is something mechanical (like a wire getting a thud) or something electrical (like the body capacitance of the seagull), but I guess, I'll just never know^^
The light is flickering already so I think the seagull landing must have made the connection better. Or it's just magic and the seagul is an electric whisperer haha.
Yeah, I just googled, it probably is the starter (assuming this is a neon lamp, but i guess it wouldn't flicker if it wasn't). Those starters have a metal strip in them that is supposed to make contact for a second or so and then release contact as soon as it heats up
So my guess is that the metal hasn't made contact till the seagull landed
The dedication you showed to this is amazing . The level of research is impressive. Nevertheless its a beautiful gif.
